Tell us about your health condition and employment. We'll determine whether you qualify for federal FMLA, Connecticut PFML, or both — and help you understand how the two programs work together.
Meet a board-certified doctor via video who understands both federal FMLA certification and Connecticut's PFML medical documentation requirements.
Get your FMLA certification within 24 hours. We also provide documentation to support your PFML application through the Connecticut Paid Leave Authority.
Connecticut PFML pays 90% of your wages up to 40 times the state minimum wage per week, then 60% of wages above that level. Maximum benefit: $1,016.40/week in 2026. If you earn near or below the state's median wage, you'll see close to 90% of your pay replaced.
Standard PFML provides 12 weeks per year. If you experience a serious pregnancy complication, you may qualify for an additional 2 weeks (14 total). Use it for your own medical condition, family care, bonding with a new child, organ donation, or military exigency.
Connecticut PFML is 100% employee-funded through a 0.5% payroll deduction. Your employer doesn't contribute — which means this benefit exists because of your contributions. If you need time off for a health condition, this is your money working for you.

Standard federal FMLA requires your employer to have 50+ employees within 75 miles, 12+ months tenure, and 1,250+ hours worked in the past year.
If you've earned wages in Connecticut and had PFML payroll deductions, you likely qualify. Connecticut PFML covers employees at employers of all sizes. Even workers at small companies with fewer than 50 employees can access paid leave.
If you qualify for both, FMLA provides job protection while PFML provides wage replacement. They run at the same time — 12 weeks total, not 24. But you get both protections during the same leave period.
Connecticut does not currently offer a voluntary opt-in for self-employed workers. If you're a freelancer or independent contractor without W-2 earnings in the state, you may not be eligible for PFML benefits.
Connecticut workers file PFML claims through the Connecticut Paid Leave Authority — a separate process from the FMLA certification that goes to your employer. Each requires different documentation and follows different timelines.
Our Connecticut-licensed physicians complete your FMLA certification and provide medical documentation that meets the Paid Leave Authority's requirements. We help you avoid the most common mistakes: submitting incomplete medical evidence, missing the claim filing deadline, or not understanding how FMLA and PFML interact.
In most cases, your employer cannot require you to use PTO while you're receiving PFML benefits. We help you understand your rights under both federal and Connecticut law.

Connecticut PFML pays 90% of wages up to 40 times the minimum wage, then 60% above that. Maximum: $1,016.40/week in 2026. Lower-wage workers see close to full wage replacement. The program is funded entirely by employee payroll deductions at 0.5%.
Standard PFML provides 12 weeks per benefit year. Serious pregnancy complications may qualify for an additional 2 weeks. This covers your own medical condition, family care, bonding, organ or bone marrow donation, and military exigency.
Connecticut PFML applies to all employers, regardless of size. Even if your company has fewer than 50 employees (and you don't qualify for federal FMLA), you can still access paid leave through the state program.
Connecticut PFML covers care for your spouse, child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, or any individual whose close relationship is equivalent to family. Federal FMLA only covers spouse, child, and parent.
Connecticut PFML includes job restoration rights for covered employees. Combined with federal FMLA (if eligible), you have strong protection against losing your position while on leave.
Our Connecticut-licensed physicians complete your FMLA certification and PFML medical documentation in a single video visit. Most certifications completed within 24 hours. Over 250,000 patients served nationwide.
Connecticut workers have been paying into PFML since 2022. If you need time off for a health condition, that money is there for you. Our Connecticut-licensed physicians help you get certified for FMLA and prepare documentation for your PFML claim. One visit. All your paperwork handled.
